This bulletin board is great for changing up the classroom by providing a cheerful and interactive station for your students. It is 3-dimensional and full of color, while it intrigues their brains for reading and for learning about authors and their lives (they are just ordinary people). This board idea and materials allows the students to “preview” seven of the Junie B. Jones novels by opening each of them on the board and reading the brief summary (which will leave them wanting to know more). Also, the students will have the chance to make their own Junie B. bows (hair bows for the girls and bow ties for the boys). They should make their bow to represent them in some way (let them be creative!), and they must share their bow to the class in order to give them an opportunity to practice their oral presentation skills (you, as the teacher, can share first so that they understand what is expected of them). Use this board to study SOL 3.2 (as listed below) and liven up the classroom, Junie B. style!
