This beach-themed measuring activity is a fun activity to use toward the end of the school year. It is a very low prep activity will allow your students to practice Common Core K.MD.1: Describe and compare measurable attributes. Students can use the unit of measurement of your choice (tiles, connecting cubes, paper clips, pennies, etc.) or any of the included measuring pieces or “rulers” to measure the length of beach-related objects. There is a sheet to record their measuring data. They then can compare the lengths in relationship to one another by circling the object that is longer on one recording sheet. A second recording sheet enables students to use their measurements to place the objects in order from shortest to longest by cutting and gluing.
