This interactive PowerPoint lesson is just about the calendar! It is not connected to other math standards. It explicitly teaches the structure of a calendar, what a calendar measures, days of the week, and months of the year. It explains how to determine what day a certain date will fall on and what date the third or fourth Wednesday will be. It also explains how to read the date and write it in both words and numbers. There are embedded 'check for understanding' slides within the presentation. Students use their white boards or paper to answer a few basic questions allowing the instructor to determine the pacing of the lesson. These participation points are engaging and fun for the students. The instructor can make teams and give points for correct answers to up the rigor, discourse, and engagement level. Truly a fun lesson!
