These fun, short timed tests are an excellent way for your students to review basic
multiplication and division facts and to learn to immediately recall them. I start out with the multiplication tests and give the same test for an entire week. I give students a minute the first day to complete, and we change papers and correct for immediate feedback. Each day I reduce the amount of time to complete the test by 10- 15 seconds. On Friday, I administer the one of the Basic Facts Olympics tests provided. As students finish the test, I give them a number to write on their test and double check to make sure it is completed. We then change papers and correct. Certificates are awarded for the first, second, and third students to finish the test with zero errors. I also buy small trophies to sit in each student's desk until the following week and have a bulletin board to feature pictures of "medalists" holding their certificates. I have included A and B weekly tests for multiplication and division. The A tests are to be used when students have only mastered a few of the basic facts. The B versions work well when students have mastered all of the facts.
These tests take little time to administer, and students buzz with excitement each day as they try to complete the tests at a faster pace! A fun way to motivate students to memorize those basic multiplication and division facts! Tests are doubled on each sheet to save you paper and copy time!
