“Just the Facts” Breaking a Good Story Down is a cute way to get student excited about reading. This activity may be used as a handout or a graphic organizer. It uses the theme of solving a mystery to help students locate and find information within a story or a paragraph. Students will locate and find information within the text to help them answer the questions in the tool boxes. Students will work on writing skills and locating story elements and main idea in this activity. A nonfiction sheet has also been included as well. It also works identifying main idea, locating details, and recognizing author's purpose. This activity may completed as an individual activity, partner, or small group activity. Aligned with Common Core Standards and may be used in different grade levels.
