Here is the complete financial literacy program for K-1 that I created! I am a 2016 winner of the IBAT Financial Literacy Award as one of the top 3 financial literacy systems in the state of Texas. This program was the first one I developed when I taught 1st grade years ago. This program is based on students earning and losing coins from their piggy banks. It covers several math and social studies TEKs and is designed to be used for classroom management. The students get so involved in the program that they actually ask for more homework and jobs in the classroom! They want to earn money and be able to buy items from you.
The system starts on Day 1 and can help you in teaching your Social Studies lessons over being a good citizen, following rules, and being responsible. The piggy bank contract that is included in the packet will help prompt you to discuss the word pledge. It helps you cover most of the SS TEKs in that unit.
This system can be adjusted for your needs in your classroom. It builds throughout the entire year and can even be added to if the system continues throughout each grade level. For example, this system can teach students enough about saving and earning that they would be ready for my award winning program that starts in 2nd grade! The base of the system is so basic that it can be worked anyway you need to cover your math TEKs in any grade!
Please let me know if there is something else you may need for this program to be complete for you class. I am happy to help in any way to strengthen our students knowledge of Financial Literacy!
