This is a compilation of coloring pages and fill in the blank worksheets for K - 3 students. It's designed as a 7+ week project. Students learn about the "Instrument of the Week".
I go to dsokids.com to show students a picture of the instrument and play the recordings of the listening examples.
After seeing and hearing the instrument I project the fill in the blanks. The class repeats the words in the word box after me and fills in the blanks (choral response style).
Next, students individually write the answers to the fill in the blanks and color the instrument of the week in their workbook. We keep the class materials in a cubby and continue the process until we've learned about them. If I have a class set of the featured instrument (ex. triangles) we'll also play the instrument of the week. At the end of the unit students take their books home.
Week 1: Introduce the instrument families and teach about the percussion family & snare drum.
Week 2: Teach about the bass drum.
Week 3 - 6: Continue with the other instruments.
Weeks 7: Review percussion family instruments. Play a listening game. Students take workbooks home.
