K-5 MEGA RHYTHM PACKET EVERY MUSIC TEACHER NEEDS!
You may have seen the following rhythm packet available from other websites, but after downloading mine, try the following: print the quarter note page on blue paper, the eighth note pairs on pink paper, and the quarter rests on white. Then, come up with your own color coding system for the common rhythms in K-5. Cut them out and use these color coded rhythms the next time you practice rhythm readings with your kiddos. Through this method, students learn to read rhythms in two ways: through traditional notation and through associating color with the different symbols. Great for slower learners who need differentiation in the classroom! Place four cards on a music stand and keep mixing it up. After students have mastered rhythm/syllable association, ask them to compose. Kids love the challenge! Make sure to laminate them before you cut them out. Trust me - you will use them a LOT! Diverse product that can be used in the classroom or band/chorus rehearsals, too.
