This game can be played in a small group, or as part of a center. There are a total of 24 word cards and 6 KABOOM cards. This game helps students practice reading words that end with -nk and -ng.
* Place cards upside down or inside a deep container.
* Students take turns choosing a card and reading the word on the card. (If a student reads the word correctly, he or she keeps the card. If the word is read incorrectly, it should be put back into the pile or container.)
* If a student pulls a card with the word, “KABOOM,” he or she must put all cards back in the pile or container.
* This game never ends. A timer can be used if you would like to designate the end of a game. The student with the most cards “wins”.
The word cards read:
bank, thank, tank, pink, link, wink, honk, bonk, zonk, sunk, dunk, bunk, bang, sang, fang, thing, ring, wing, song, long, gong, hung, sung, lung
