Description

PowerPoint that uses both audio of word being read with animated word in print to hold students' attention and increase retention of information.

Sight words mastery is so very important to having fluency in reading. The students at my school struggle with this, so to assist the teachers and support the students, I created this PowerPoint that allows students to practice in a FUN manner.

The presentation presents the word and there is a pause before the word is read aloud by Counselor Bev. This allows students to play a "beat the audio" game to see if they can identify the word before it is read aloud. It also allows students to hear the correct pronunciation and allows them to associate the spoken word with the written word. Students can hear the word as many or as few times as they need or want.

It can be used independently by students or with the whole group together. It will be a wonderful intervention to use with students for remediation, but it can be used just as easily for gifted students for enrichment. This is a great resource for English Language Learners, too!

I have made several different levels and have them available to purchase.

There are 44 slides. These are based on the Dolch list and are grouped according to how we divide them up by grades at our school. This resource can be modified to fit your needs. Words included in the presentation are:

The, I, a, see, an, they, here, look, is, and, we, this, he, then, she, so, it, at, no, can, do, like, what, too, you, with, are, like, what, too, you, with, are, to, have, on, not, my, has, his, by, put, down, big, come, for.

I have used animation, background music, transitions, and movement to help keep students’ interest. Our students LOVE these and enjoy getting to practice their sight words in a way that is much more fun than using flash cards.

I have set it up so that the kids only have to use the arrows to navigate between frames. The word is repeated until the student moves to the next slide. I have uploaded a preview to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Us8ENxHWEjQ if you want to see it in action.
