Two KWL charts for any topic!
KWL charts are a great way to help you assess the background knowledge of your students at the start of a lesson. They prompt students to think about what they already know about the topic, and set a purpose for their reading and learning by asking questions in their own words. A great tool to use with English Language Learners!
These KWL charts go a step further and provide 5 sentence starters in each column to keep students on track with a clear purpose as they think and write. Additional space at the bottom of each column is provided so students can illustrate their facts and questions.
Chart 1: What do I already know? What do I want to know? What did I learn?
Chart 2: What do I already know? I wonder… What did I learn?
