What is a KWL?
A pre-reading strategy that leads students through the steps of "What do I KNOW? (already)" then "What do I WANT to know?" and finally, "What did I LEARN?"
This reading strategy is perfect for helping students create context before, during and after a lesson or full unit. This activity is typically used for engaging students in new topics, activating prior knowledge, creating a base for personal connections, and monitoring student learning.
