In small groups, students practice asking and answering questions related to the Spanish vocabulary/grammar for Chapters 5A and 5B in Realidades 1. The vocabulary for Chapter 5A is mostly about "Familia y Fiestas" and the verb "tener." The added vocabulary for Chapter 5B focuses on describing physical characteristics.
If you want a separate Kaboom for just Chapter 5A, please see my other listing.
This game is great to get your students talking in the target language and using complete sentences. It also helps them to review numbers, listen carefully, and speak clearly.
The file includes the questions for the game and instructions for the students (with a glossary).
Basic Game Instructions:
In groups, students take turns choosing popsicle sticks with numbers 1-50 listed on them. The student says the number aloud in Spanish and another student in the group reads the corresponding question in Spanish. If the student answers correctly, he/she keeps the stick for a point. If it's incorrect, he/she puts the stick back. If the student gets "Kaboom" he/she puts the stick back and loses a turn. If the student gets "Kaching" he/she keeps the stick and gets to pull an extra one. The student with the most sticks (points) when time is up wins.
This game can be played with the whole class in small groups, or you can use it as part of a Station Rotation. My students love it and they say it is really helping them with pronunciation and speaking in Spanish. My students usually play this game for 20-45 minutes.
