This is a reading plan that helps you choose which excerpts to incorporate into your Kaffir Boy unit. It is for teachers who do not plan to teach every page of the book.
Kaffir Boy is a long novel, and let's face it, our students do not need to read it all. I have worked really hard to analyze which chapters of the book are essential for students to read, and which ones can be skipped.
I have created a three week reading schedule that tells students which chapters of the book they should read. At the bottom, I have provided a description of the chapters that were skipped so that you can help your kids know what plot details they missed (even though the skipped chapters are not essential). The reading plan also works to exclude the portions of the book that are offensive or may be considered inappropriate content. I have given a description of the portions that were skipped for that purpose and an explanation of why. You can of course choose to modify the schedule for your own students.
You may choose to also purchase my Kaffir Boy Reading Plan bookmark that includes the same reading schedule on a book mark for students to keep in their books.
You may also choose to purchase the quizzes that I have created to test the students on the week's reading.
I also offer a bundle of all three called Kaffir Boy Reading Plan Bundle
