Become more acquainted with Kansas! This KANSAS packet is full of interesting facts, trivia and activities! Start with the KANSAS game that begins at statehood and continues through time. Each move is a dated event and the first person to travel through time and reach the Capitol wins the game. Watch out for the dust bowl years, tornadoes, floods, and the Dalton gang robbery! Quiz cards give players a chance to advance or redeem a forfeited turn. There are two sizes of game mats to choose from: letter-size and two-page. For a short game, use the smaller version, or the larger one for a longer time frame. Copy several game pages and the whole class can play in small groups. Also included is the KANSAS Bingo game. There are ten playing cards. The game includes facts about Kansas in addition to the Kansas symbols.
There is a lot of information included in the packet for as much class discussion as you wish. Students will learn more about Kansas people, history, geography and commerce as they read and do the activities. You may choose to do some projects as a whole class or others as individual activities. Answer pages are included after each activity. Enjoy the tour of this interesting state!
