This is a simple character guide with an example for Karen Hesse's verse novel Witness. This is excellent for helping seventh and eighth graders analyze character interactions, motivations, and how their dialogue and actions influence or propel a story. It can also be used to help struggling readers keep track of all of the switching perspectives in this popular book.
I give this to my students after they have completed Act One, but it can be used from the first day onward or used as a post-reading assignment.
