Animated Step-by-Steps are animated PowerPoints designed to address literacy, language, AAC and a host of academic goals. Each page includes a series of animations. Read the text up to the star … click … and see an animation of what you just read.
There are three versions of this Animated Step-by-Step Song. This is the SymbolStix (n2y) Version. Please note Animated Step-by-Steps are not compatible with Keynote.
This resource mediates the task of dressing/preparing both the child (Kathryn) and the horse (Mosely) for riding. It also oversees the task of getting on the horse and riding the horse using the commands ‘Walk on’ and “Whoa”.
I typically read a page first with a literacy agenda, triggering the animations as we go and then use the song button to provide a sound track (child’s voice) for singing the song while referring to the symbols that appear after all the page animations are completed.
This resource can be displayed on the ‘big screen’ (interactive whiteboard, large screen TV using Apple TV) or the ‘little screen’ (computer monitor, iPad/Android tablet using the free Microsoft PowerPoint app).
As is the case with all Animated Step-by-Steps® I love using a remote switch mounted on a board to allow students to share the ‘magic’ of triggering the animations. Please visit the Animated Step-by-Steps blog for further information on establishing remote access (http://bit.ly/2aNkBVZ http://bit.ly/RemoteSwitchAccess ) or setting up your iPad for using the Microsoft PowerPoint App (http://bit.ly/2aufDPx ).
