I work with students with a variety of abilities. Some of my students have difficulty understanding social concepts and elements of social interaction. I use social stories to teach these vital social skills.
This social story, titled "Keeping My Body Safe", teaches students to ask before giving a kiss or a hug. It also teaches students that others should ask them before they are kissed or hugged. This social story also introduces the topic of "bad touch" by teaching students to tell a trusted adult when a touch makes them feel bad inside. There is a space for students and teachers to brainstorm a list of trusted adults.
I hope this social story helps you work with your students who may have difficulty in social situations!
