This unit highlights the wonderful works of renowned children's book author, Kevin Henkes! Students utilize higher-level thinking skills when comparing books written by the same author. After reading or listening to several works by Kevin Henkes, students will engage in literary skills such as: character analysis, plot development, problem and solution, cause and effect, prediction, turning point, and the use of irony. There is also a Venn diagram to aid in comparing and contrasting two of the books. Students are also encouraged to support their answers with textual evidence.
