Use this packet to encourage kids to ask deep and meaningful questions about what you are studying. Our entire school, grades K-5 use these masters in their classroom and adjust according to grade level. There are masters to make all 8 "keys" with the key concepts on them. They also come with Key Concept Description cards that I use as a "cheat sheet" for me to help me when we sort kid questions. As you can see from the pictures in my classroom, I have the "keys" posted next to an "I Wonder" wall. I post our essential questions for the unit with the students under the appropriate key concept. Then, students think of questions about the unit we are studying and write them on sticky notes to put in their thinking bubble. Then as a class, we sort their questions under the key concepts. The goal is to get a wide-range of types of questions and to get kids asking deeper questions using Bloom's higher order of thinking.
Included in the packet: key concepts and describing question to make keys with; key concept description cards to help with sorting questions.
