I created this poster as a visual for students to see which finger is responsible for which keys when learning keyboarding. This poster also lists the only things I want students to focus on this year - using home row, correct finger reach, and eyes on the screen (or paper). I have been teaching keyboarding for many years and have been frustrated with how many students don't follow the correct technique. It is difficult to continually monitor their technique but that seems to be the only way to achieve success. I don't think the software program our district has for keyboarding has been as helpful as I would have hoped. This year speed will not be a goal or a focus at all. Speed will come as a byproduct of good technique and practice. The size of the poster is 11" x 14" but of course can be printed larger (for a bigger classroom poster) or smaller (for individual student copies). The keyboard shown on the poster is a Windows laptop keyboard.
