Keyboarding/Microsoft Word Activity- Typing Spanish Text Characters (Accents, Tilde, Punctuation Marks, etc.)
Note: Thumb nail images a little messed up. Text in packet is extremely neat and organized unlike in thumb nails. Directions on first page, table neat on 2nd page, activity on last two pages. Will look perfect when download.
This is a fun activity/informative activity that can be done in a keyboarding, Microsoft Office, or Spanish class. This is a 4 page handout.
The first page discusses the uses for Spanish text characters- accents, tilde, punctuation marks (upside down/inverted question mark, exclamation mark), etc. and explains how to type them on a normal QWERTY keyboard.
The second page contains a table that gives easy step-by step directions on how to create the characters. These are directions using simple keys on the keyboard in a variety of combinations. Basically you are using the Ctrl, Alt, Shift, and a few punctuation marks. NO HARD TO REMEMBER NUMBER COMBINATIONS. There are directions for lower case and capital letters. For an example, to get the acute accent over a vowel, simply hold down the "Ctrl" key and strike the apostrophe key at the same time. Let them both go, and type the letter you want to have an accent, such as "e."
The last two pages contain an activity in which students are to type a page and a half of Spanish words/phrases and their meaning in English- two neat columns. While typing the words/phrases, students get practice creating the Spanish text characters.
This is an excellent activity to do in a computer class. This could also be used as an activity to place in an emergency sub folder.
