Kick-Start Kindergarten was made for kindergarten students who may need extra practice or intervention for essential literacy skills for the beginning of kindergarten. The handbook includes clear goals, explanations, and tips for parents to help their students succeed.
Kick-Start Kindergarten is an 80-page handbook designed for beginning of kindergarten literacy skills. The handbook is easy-to-read with parent tips throughout and includes multiple sets of flash cards. Kick-Start Kindergarten has a focus of essential literacy skills to help students succeed in the beginning of kindergarten. The skills included in this handbook are:
- letter recognition (uppercase and lowercase)
- proper pencil grip and fine motor tracing
- handwriting (uppercase)
- name recognition and writing
- concepts of print
- read alouds (story elements)
- letter sounds
- beginning sounds
Materials needed: crayons, pencils (small golf pencils recommended), and dot markers (optional).
Many of the skills in this handbook are also in the more robust Kindergarten Readiness Handbook, which has more broad skills including math, cutting, and sight words.
Tip: Many of these pages are consumable, meaning that once your student uses them they are done. If you would like extra practice for any of the pages, simply make a copy or reprint the page from the digital version.
