Kickin' It With Solids is an activity allows students the opportunity to make a personalized truncatated icosahedron (soccer ball shape). Included are step-by-step instructions, as well as tabbed templates of the required faces. This is a great hands-on math activity to expose students to the construction of polyhedrons, in this case an Archimedian solid. They see first-hand how the angles and edges of each shape coincide to creat a 3D solid. Students also personalize their soccer balls in a way that helps them to study/review and share interesting facts about themselves.
