Kids Take Action: Knowledge - Action – Change. Engaging Middle School Students to Demand a Healthier School Community is a 6-week program to engage students in assessing barriers to healthy eating and physical activity, and developing solutions.
-Students learn basic nutrition and physical activity concepts with goal of motivating them to change personal behavior
-Students learn about food policy, marketing, and advertising in order to decipher messages and use the techniques to create a social marketing message
-Students work in small groups to perform school needs assessment and create performance based media campaign targeted to influence stakeholders’ decisions and increase access to healthy food and physical activity
