In my 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th grade classes, we always focus on the motifs of survival, friendship, and overcoming adversity. This documentary focuses on a Colorado native who was exposed to all three of these motifs and was still able to come out of the situation successfully and with hopeful knowledge for the future. This documentary not only sparks the interest of students because the protagonist is a Colorado Native, but the classroom discussions that are generated during the documentary and after the documentary turn into supplemental discussion topics for final "Survival/Nature" projects/essays.
