PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

KinderReadAloud is a supplemental read aloud curriculum created by a teacher for teachers! KinderReadAloud was designed as a way for teachers to assist in closing the “30 million word gap.” What is the “30 million word gap?” Researchers proved that students coming into school from less privileged homes will have heard an average of 30 million less words than those from privileged homes. Read alouds in the classroom are the easiest way to bridge that gap! A read aloud can be as simple as the last 10-15 minutes of your day or during “down time” between lessons. Read alouds offer children to simply listen and soak in vocabulary and learn to establish a love for reading. Read alouds also offer a modeled way to show what fluent reading sounds like.

How Can I use KinderReadAloud Curriculum in my Class?

KinderReadAloud Curriculum is designed to offer teachers a way to boost their read aloud time. Read alouds of any kind are welcomed and encouraged in the classroom. However, with the rigor and standards placed upon us we are often asked to only spend time through the day that is “standards based.” KinderReadAloud has taken 75 of the most popular trade books and made them standards based. Each read aloud has 4 aligned questions. Simply pull the book from your classroom library, turn to that matching page in your KinderReadAloud Curriculum teacher’s manual, and see the students blossom and take in word after word!

KinderReadAloud is a supplemental curriculum which means it does not offer all of the important aspects of a reader’s workshop program, like that of KinderLiteracy. However, KinderReadAloud can be easily added to ANY and ALL reader’s workshop programs! Find 10-15 minutes within your day (a couple times a week) and see KinderReadAloud become one of your favorite times of the week!
