What is KinderReaders?

KinderReaders is a program designed to assist teachers, paraprofessionals, ELL staff, RTI teachers, home-school parents and any other individual striving to teach reading to a young child. KinderReaders is a systematic program. What does this mean? Each text of KinderReaders is given the same materials and presented to the students in the same manner. This allows for student growth because new routines are not being taught, only new concepts like new texts in this case. The program includes all of the necessary pieces and is designed in a way that allows you to simply print, prep the materials and add in students!

What levels are covered in KinderReaders Set One?

Each text covers three levels of students. The first level is that of NR or non readers. These are the students that are struggling to gain a basic understanding of the English vocabulary. Before these students will feel confident in reading words, they first need to be confident in vocabulary. They will be using the included word cards, word tracking strips, and picture only easy reader books. The next level is that of level AA. These students are in the early stages of simple (sight) word recognition. Their materials include: word cards, sight word picture strips and sight word picture easy readers. Each week they are given one word to master along with the vocabulary. Level A is for the students that are beginning to read and are able to read a complete sentence. These students will get the same practice with vocabulary but they will also be building and reading a complete (sight word filled) sentence. The levels are covered in an explicit simple and scripted “just read” lesson plan. All necessary picture cards, word cards and easy readers are included. Also included for Level A is a mastery fluency assessment called a running record.

What documents are in Spanish?

ALL student materials have been translated into Spanish (books, reading strips, word cards and picture cards). These books are perfect for ELL students as each of the 20 books offer 6 rich vocabulary words! That's 120 words for their vocabulary banks!
