This assessment pack can be used at the beginning of the year to gauge student levels and create reading and math groups. It can also be used throughout the whole year to track progress and present to parents at conferences to show valuable growth!
I personally use these assessments as a portfolio to show growth at conferences. At the beginning of the year, I will record answers in one color (blue), before the first set of conferences I will update in another color (yellow), and at the end of the year, I will update in another color (orange). Parents LOVE to see the growth. Include the note to parents I provided (or add your own!) if you want to explain this system to them.
Feel free to print this assessment pack in a way that works for you--add or remove pages, create separate math and literacy portfolios, or combine into one portfolio!
If there is anything else you’d like to see in this pack, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I’d love to make this pack as useful as possible for you!
I've tried to make this product as versatile as possible. I include choices for cover sheets for multiple portfolios, boy and girl portfolios, or gender neutral portfolios. Multiple parent letters are included for semester and trimester differences. For an editable sight words assessment and class recording sheet, please download for free here:
