Use authentic tasks in your classroom in conjunction with these rubrics and task checklists to help students track their own progress in meeting CCSS goals. I use these kindergarten summative assessment rubrics as part of my teacher evaluation and to help adapt my teaching. After a child masters a task one or more of the tasks, we grade our work on the rubric. Children highlight across how well they did and can track their progress over the year. These are used during testing and during student conferences. This assessment binder will work with any curriculum aligned to common core.
Send home one of the rubrics and checklist tasks home for additional practice. Families will know exactly what children are expected to master at a certain point in time. I don’t recommend sending all of them home - this is overwhelming and unnecessary. Send home the ones that are the most pertinent or are on-going throughout the year.
