Here is what you need to start teaching the new Common Core Standards in Reading: Foundational Skills. For almost all of the 14 standards there is a reproducible student-friendly mini-poster, skill-based flip booklet, delightful worksheet and a certificate to reward student achievement. Each page is available as a black and white student reproducible as well as a full color teacher sample.
Standards covered include: RF-1a: Reading left to right, top to bottom, etc.; RF-1b: Words are made of specific sequences of letters; RF-1c: Leaving spaces between words; RF-1d: Recognizing upper- and lowercase letters; RF-2a: Rhyming words; RF2-b: Counting syllables; RF-2c: Blending onsets; RF-2d: Initial, medial and final sounds in CVC words; RF-2e: Changing letters in CVC words to make new words; RF-3a: Sounds of the consonants; RF-3b: Long and short vowel sounds; RF-3c: Reading high frequency words; RF-3d: Similarly-spelled words; RF-4: Reading emergent texts.
These materials can be used to supplement any existing language arts program or as a stand-alone reading program.
