Here is what you need to start teaching the new Common Core Standards in Reading: Literature. For almost all of the 9 standards there is a reproducible student-friendly mini-poster, skill-based flip booklet, delightful worksheet and a certificate to reward student achievement. Each page is available as a black and white student reproducible as well as a full color teacher sample.
Standards covered include: RL-1 Ask and answer questions about key details in a text; RL-2 Retell a familiar story; RL-3 Identify characters, settings and main events in a story; RL-4 Ask and answer questions about unknown words in a text; RL-5 Recognize common kinds of texts; RL-6 Name the author and illustrator and their roles; RL-7 Describe relationship between illustrations and the story; RL-9 Compare and contrast characters; RL10 Actively engage in group reading activities.
These materials can be used to supplement any existing language arts program or as a stand-alone reading program.
