PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

U.S. Coins Bundle will help you build your resources to meet the coin standards as part of the financial literacy component of the standards. Pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters are difficult for students to understand because their size is not related to the value. This 78-page bundle will help you work through the identifying coins by name and value.

Ideas for Use:
→ Throughout the Year: Since there are so many embedded standards, these resources can be used throughout the year so that students become familiar with coins, their names, and values. I have found that an exposure in isolation or within one unit during the school year is not enough for young students who do not regularly handle money.

→ Whole Group to Small Group: Use the games in a whole group setting for the students’ first introduction. Then, move the games into a math center or math station for students to learn from each other. Students can play the game by themselves or with up to four partners.

→ Multiple Settings: This resource can be used within math centers or math stations, guided math, small group, intervention, or tutoring. Students can greatly benefit from the hands-on activity and opportunity for repeated practice. This can be used to supplement ANY math program that you are using and is standards-based.

→ Modifications and Accommodations: The varied materials allows you to meet students’ at their independent levels. You can use the provided materials to support ALL learners in your classroom, including those with 504 plans, IEPS, and English Language Learners. If students are struggling with coins a large number of coins, select the printable that best suits their needs.
