This file includes all 100 teaching objectives for kindergarten Go Math, sometimes modified in child friendly language. The objectives are in I can statements, but can be edited. Sometimes I changed the wording to be more child friendly or fit the page. You can change it back if needed. In the bottom right corner of the poster is the lesson number and the standard for the lesson.
I left it in word file and editable in case you use the we can or mathematicians can statement starters instead. I made this file on a regular PC not a MAC so if you own a MAC I would suggest you buy my PDF Non Editable version.
If you're a NYC doe teacher besides helping the students understand the learning objective I made these for two other NYC DOE reasons as follows:
1. Administration expects 4-5 year olds to be able to speak about what they are learning. They can't read yet so you can encourage use of the picture to talk about what they are learning incase visitors come in. I use to tell older students to read the learning objective to help them think of what to say if they got nervous talking to other adults when they came in my classroom. This is not possible with K till the end of the year so the picture helps.
2. Administration expects students to keep math journals AND folders AND workbooks. Of course we all know 3 things is too much... It just is. And we all know the workbook is the best for teaching and administration doesn't even want you to use it. LOL. At the start of the lesson have them copy the picture. Journal entry complete! Of course its a warm up but you're going to tell them it's used for daily assessment.Stick some sticker or stamp on it that says you got it or something.
We all know how it is you can have a folder full of worksheets that we are not allowed to call worksheets and a completed workbook that they don't want you to use and they will still come in your classroom and say why does this 4 year old not have anything in his/her COLLEGE RULED journal????
We all know he/she should not be using a college ruled journal cause the lines are to small and there are too many pages..... (we all know it takes a month to get them to turn to the next clean page and you have to number pages in 30 student journals to help them turn to the next clean page.... which you will -probably finish doing in February....). Well Enough about my NYC DOE Rant
Review the objective in the beginning of the lesson, talk about the picture so they can refer to it when admin comes in, have them draw the picture in the journal ... tell administration it's used as a form of assessment. I hope my illustrations help you survive.
