Basically - choose your cover, print off each page, order the letters in your teaching preference and staple together.
Wham! there is your handwriting book!
I like to enlarge to A3 for my own teaching copy.
I made this as the 2nd book for introducing handwriting and the alphabet for my kinders. To follow on from my first book with lower case letters only. This book focuses on lower and upper case letters. It purposely does not have too many letters to trace and write as I find handwriting can become a long and arduous activity. I firmly believe it is important to still learn correct formation of letters and pencil grip BUT with so much to cover in a day I don’t want it to take all day. I also find in the beginning many children need to build writing stamina, it needs to be a short enough activity to keep all engaged and doing their best.
I have plans to add more handwriting books with numbers included.
Please note NEW ZEALAND teachers the k is not NZ curriculum k - when I find a dotted font of this I will add an extra page including this. If anyone is able to let me know where I can obtain a dashed NZ lower case k please message me.
There are 2 covers, please see preview.
Each page is identical. So children quickly learn the system.
Each page generally has 7 letters across (except for very skinny letters i.e. the letter i has 9 across)
The title box includes the letter to color/colour, space for childs name and picture related to the letter.
1st row is trace lower case with arrows and without arrows.
2nd row is trace upper case with arrows and without arrows.
3rd row is an eg. of upper and lower case letter with arrows, the rest of the line is left empty for children to write the letters on their own.
4th row is a simple sentence to trace. Each sentence focuses on the letter introducing the sound and incorporating sight words.
