WEEK 4 THEME – HEROES ARE MODEST!

This packet integrates with the Kindergarten Heroes complete year curriculum, however you can adapt these math lessons to work as stand-alone units as well. The theme of Kindergarten Heroes Week 4 is Sir Edmund Hillary! Our Character trait focus is Heroes Are Modest (Show Humility). Our SEL strategy is "Take the Hope Float".

WEEK 4 KINDERGARTEN HEROES™ MATH CENTERS

Our weekly math centers block provides options for five different centers to assess student understanding of the concept taught that week. Use any or all of these centers to assess your student(s).

  1. Math Books: Various two dimensional shape themed book suggestions.
  2. Pattern Blocks: Build a tent, mountains, and an ice pick!
  3. Math Mats: Count sides and vertices using shapes clip cards!
  4. Hero’s Journey: Pack a bag for Sir Edmund Hillary!
  5. Number Games: Play Shape and Shape Word match with a friend!

ORGANIZATION EXTRAS

Organize your math centers with the included center labels, rotation cards, reading strategies posters, and Hero's Journey bag labels.

KINDERGARTEN HEROES™ COORDINATING RESOURCES

SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING

This curriculum is fully SEL-integrated across all subjects. According to the Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL) and the Aspen Institute's Commission on Social, Emotional and Academic Development, SEL-integrated curriculum is needed to strengthen student outcomes and life success. Research has conclusively proven that SEL skills work, can be taught and not only improve social skills but also improve academic development.
