Product Description

Looking for a way to keep your students focused on learning targets? Use these colorful PRINT and GO I CAN STATEMENTS to post the revised Kentucky Social Studies Standards in student-friendly language. In August, 2019, Kentucky Academic Standards (KAS) for Social Studies were adopted and Kentucky teachers and schools are now required to use the KAS for Social Studies  as the basis of their curricula and instruction. Communicating these goals through the posting of student-friendly “I can” statements in the classroom helps students become aware of what they will have to do to be successful.

"I Can" statements are best printed on light-weight cardstock and laminated for durability. Because all classrooms are unique, we have also included five EDITABLE slides for teachers to use if they wish to compose their own "I can" for some standards.

Kindergarten standards require students to:

  • Explain the purpose of local government
  • Explain rules and responsibilities of individuals in their local community
  • identify several key symbols that represents the key components of being an American and a Kentuckian.
  • Explain how people use and communities provide goods and services
  • Explore geographic relationships in their local community by identifying the physical geography
  • Explain how humans impact the environment.
  • Identify events and changes taking place in the school and local community by classifying events as taking place “today,” “yesterday” and “long ago.”
