Thank you for your interest in my August Interactive Math Journals. These math journals can be used for centers, morning work, guided/small group math, or large group instruction.
*I created these journals as a way for my students to practice math skills from each domain throughout the week/year. Each domain has an essential question and is aligned to the CCSS which are located both on the prompt and on an overview sheet for easy planning.
*Each domain is set up in an alliteration format for the day of the week. This is how I use math journals in the classroom. However, you will notice that the prompts on each journal page do not have the day of the week. This is so that you are not tied to that format if it does not work for you in your classroom.
*Measure It Monday -
*Tally it up Tuesday
*Word Problem Wednesday
*Thinking outside the box Thursday (geometry)
*Number Fun Friday (Number sense)
*Math Journals can be in two formats for your convenience:
1.In a spiral or composition notebook: This is how I like to keep the journals iin my classroom. I let the students cut out the cover page and paste it into their notebook (it is slightly smaller than a full page so it will fit in the students journals when trimmed. We add a tab to that page so they can refer back to each month if they would like.
2.You can make your own journal with the printouts. *Note: the students will be cutting out the bottoms of most pages.
Monday- measure with non-standard units
Tuesday- Tally numbers up to 5
Wednesday- Number combinations to 5
Thursday- ID and sort 2D shapes (shapes and real life objects)
Friday- Counting and writing number words to 5
