This lesson is intended as a small group lesson to support students' development of the ability to recognize and produce rhyming words. This lesson can be used in conjunction with the other lessons in this unit (see Parts 1-4 or the Rhyme Bundle!). My favorite part of this lesson is that students are engaged in adding/removing foam letter blocks to create new rhyming pairs; the students can construct their own knowledge of rhyme by experimenting with different sound combinations. Note: This lesson is more phonics oriented, as students will have the letters in front of them -- this emphasizes the letter-sound relationship.
