These language calendars, created by Heather Bates, SLP were developed to promote language development (grammar, sentence structures, vocabulary, reasoning skills, etc.) in kindergarten students. They are meant to be sent home with your students at the beginning of the given month to assist parents in engaging in meaningful dialogues with their children on a daily basis. Often times parents do not know how to engage in activities that promote language development and these monthly handouts are meant to provide guidance for them. Many of the skills targeted align with the Common Core Standards along with other developmentally appropriate language skills. The calendars start in September and run through August so the summer months are also included! Each month different language based questions are asked. Topics include but are not limited to: categorization, phonemic awareness, sorting by attribute, grammar, which does not belong, object function, comparatives, and antonyms. These calendars are a great way to involve parents in the education of their children. The adorable clip art is from www.mycutegraphics.com.
