These literacy printables for Kindergarten were created to support the use of literacy journals/notebooks in your classroom. Aligned with the Common Core, the resources in this packet are designed to engage students, aid differentiation, save paper and monitor student achievement.

This resource covers the following skills:
Conventions of Standard English
L.K.1 Conventions with writing or speaking:
-Print many upper- and lowercase letters.
-Use frequently occurring nouns and verbs.
-Form regular plural nouns orally by adding /s/ or /es/
-Understand and use question words
-Produce and expand complete sentences
L.K.2 English capitalization, punctuation, and spelling
-Capitalize the first word in a sentence and the pronoun I.
- Recognize and name end punctuation.
-Write a letter or letters for most consonant and short-vowel sounds
-Spell simple words phonetically
Knowledge of Language
Vocabulary Acquisition and Use
L.K.4 Identify new meanings for familiar words
-Identify multiple meaning words
-Use the most frequently occurring inflections and affixes
L.K.5 Explore word relationships
-Sort common objects into categories
-Demonstrate understanding of opposites
-Identify real-life connections between words and their use.
-Distinguish shades of meaning
