Product Description
The students are divided into four different groups (red group, blue group, yellow group, and green group) based on academic level. Formal assessments are delivered every three week cycle to determine group placement and to determine if students have mastered the skills of the unit and are prepared to move onto the next unit.
The red group (lowest level) is still working on learning basic alphabet knowledge (after repeating the basic alphabet knowledge program for the second time). The will continue to practice their basic alphabet knowledge (identifying letter and associating sound). Basic alphabet knowledge composed of learning the alphabet, concepts of print, letter names, letter sounds, initial sound matching and high frequency words.
The blue group (one student) has advanced from learning basic alphabet knowledge to using letter sounds. Using letter sounds will incorporate phonemic segmentation and blending, sounding and blending phonemes, and high frequency words. After the student has mastered the skills included in using letter sounds to decode words (focusing on CVC words) the students will move on to using letter patterns to decode words.
The yellow group (middle level) is using letter patterns. Using letter patterns will incorporate phonemic segmentation and blending, sounding and blending onsets and rimes, and high frequency words. After students have acquired the skills including in using letter sounds to decode words students will move on to using blends and diagraphs to decode words.
The green group (highest level) is working on blending and diagraphs. Blends and diagraphs incorporates single consonants, sounding and blending, short vowels, consonant blends, consonant diagraphs, and high-frequency words. Last week students worked on CCVCC words with initial and final blends. This week students will be introduced to the most common diagraphs. After students have acquired the skills included in using blends and diagraphs to decode words they will move on to using R-controlled vowels to decode words.
