Are you looking for an effective, differentiated, engaging, and easy to manage set of math centers that will boost your students confidence, fluency, and mental math abilities?! Look NO more! My students used these mats all last year and made many gains with mental math, foundational numbers and developed a LOVE for learning. This activity set is focused on student-centered learning but also keeping the busy teacher in mind.
In this save your ink resource, no prep set, you are getting 68 different mats that focus on varied skills taught in kindergarten or perhaps first grade. These will be the same skills you see throughout all the seasonal packs for all sets. Each seasonal pack includes many graphics that have some associations to the month and each seasonal pack ups the skill level to keep the students on their toes and extend their learning. Each season, I will up the rigor but keep the same formatting to ensure student stamina and success. These mats can be easily differentiated by student. By the end of the year, the rigor is high and students are well equipped for the challenge of the mats.
*Skills included in the sets are: representing numbers to 20, comparing numbers, composing, decomposing numbers, addition, subtraction, and data (tallies and graphing).
I am PASSIONATE about hands-on learning and the element of “play” in the classroom. Each and every mat offers that ability depending on the manipulative of your choice. Cubes always work - but, if you want to spruce it up every now and then, I’ve provided fun suggestions that kiddos will enjoy when working with the mats.
To make these mats most effective you’ll need basic tools like: dominos, dice, flashcards, and a deck of playing cards -- Things you most likely already have in the classroom. *Number spinners are included in the download.
Suggested use: print on cardstock (I’m all about the colored paper) and laminate for durability. Print only one set of recording sheets for the ENTIRE season! #YESPLEASE and place in a sleeve. The idea is the sheet serves as a reflective place for recording - not a turn in worksheet. When it’s placed in a sleeve and paired with an expo, you are able to save more time and keep the recording sheet each month when the mats change. *Note: the only cuttable piece in the entire bundle is… a SPINNER!
- 40+ Mats with varied skills
- matching recording sheets for each skill - easy to differentiate
- manipulative suggestions and suggested use info included in notes
There is no set way to pick a mat - it’s mix and matchable depending on your students needs.
You can create more than 20 different center options with using these mats.
My personal use:
At the start of each month, I will pick 5-6 mats to use throughout the month. I pick one from each skill set (sometimes 2). My centers change every two weeks because I like the first week to be practice and the second to be mastery. If students are really loving the center, I will leave it 3 weeks and toss in a fresh set of manipulatives to keep them engaged.
Thank you so much for all you do as a teacher to make your students successful! I really hope you and your students thoroughly enjoy these no-prep mats! I know that they’re a life saver for me and my students GROW from them. Please share your photos on instagram and leave feedback on the comment section to let me know how these mats work for your kiddos.
