Description

This Kindergarten Math Curriculum packet is so chock full of resources that you won't know what to do with all of them! Used as a stand alone curriculum or a curriculum supplement, you and your kids will benefit from 10 days of comprehensive standards-based instruction for numbers 0-5. Each lesson is based on a 60 minute time block.

This Kindergarten Math Curriculum unit was created to be extremely flexible. With the vast number of resources in this unit you can stick with the perfectly outlined lesson plans or pick and choose the resources you want to use to meet your own classroom's needs and/or your own teaching style. Perfect for first year teachers and seasoned teachers alike!

-- The 51 cards come in black and white (print on colored card stock!) and color (print on white card stock!)

-- The numbers 0-5 are represented as objects, dice, dominoes, ten frames, number words, numerals, base ten blocks and tally marks.

The Kindergarten Math Curriculum I Can Statements:

-- The I Can statements are the daily objective in a kids friendly simple sentence.

-- They come in a colorful 8 1/2" x 11" poster format.

The Kindergarten Math Curriculum Counting Strategies:

-- There are 6 counting strategies taught in this unit:

1. Count Out Loud

2. Point and Count

3. Move and Count

The Number of the Day Chart:

-- An excellent way to teach number sense to your kids!

-- The Number of the Day chart is used 6 days of the 10, on the days when numbers 0-5 are taught.

-- There are 19 Number of the Day chart parts included in this unit. Some of them are for more advanced concepts.

-- It's suggested that a Number of the Day Chart be made using a piece of colorful poster board.

-- Make the chart to coincide with the Number of the Day worksheets.

The Kindergarten Math Activities:

-- Each lesson has 3 colorful, FUN and ENGAGING center activities to choose from!

-- A four page Activities section is included as a quick reference guide to the activities for each lesson.

-- They address the daily objective specifically, the unit objective generally, and/or the counting strategy for that day.

-- Every center activity comes with an accompanying Instruction Card. This card tells you the materials needed, the activity instructions, and 1-3 suggestions for differentiation.

-- Every center activity has an accompanying extension activity. They were created to be copied directly on the back of the activity specifically to challenge fast finishers.

-- Most of the center activities can double as worksheets.

-- I suggest printing the activities on white card stock and the accompanying cards and other pieces on white or colored card stock. Laminate for longer lasting resources.


The Kindergarten Math Worksheets:

-- A four page Worksheets section is included as a quick reference guide to the worksheets for each lesson.

-- Each lesson has three worksheets, though one of them is technically a booklet.

-- The first worksheet generally addresses the objective for the day.

-- The second worksheet is a number tracing worksheet.

-- The third worksheet is a printable 6-7 page booklet that closely mirrors the I Can statement for the day.

-- For the lessons for numbers 0-5 the first worksheet is a Number of the Day worksheet that coincides with the Number of the Day chart portion of the lesson.

-- Several worksheets are cut and glue.

The Suggested Read Alouds:

-- Each book was hand-picked to coincide with the day's lesson.

Compare two numbers between 1 and 10 presented as written numerals.
Identify whether the number of objects in one group is greater than, less than, or equal to the number of objects in another group, e.g., by using matching and counting strategies.
Count to answer “how many?” questions about as many as 20 things arranged in a line, a rectangular array, or a circle, or as many as 10 things in a scattered configuration; given a number from 1-20, count out that many objects.
Understand that each successive number name refers to a quantity that is one larger.
Understand that the last number name said tells the number of objects counted. The number of objects is the same regardless of their arrangement or the order in which they were counted.
