Last Place Takes All includes three engaging "hands-on" domino math games that motivate children to actively count, match, subitize and talk their math out loud. The goal of each game is to be the last player to place a domino into any square in order to CAPTURE all of the dominoes!
GAME # 1: Students work with partners and practice beginning numeracy skills by counting the pips on the dominoes ( one to one correspondence) and then finding the matching number in symbolic (numeral form) on their game board.
This activity provides the essential practice needed for bridging the gap between concrete and abstract numbers.
GAME # 2: Students count, subitize and match dominoes.
GAME #3: Students match their dominoes to the corresponding number words.
Your Little Geniuses will love the friendly competition as they try to capture groups of dominoes.
This is an excellent activity for students of different abilities to work together. It is "just the luck of the dominoes" that determines the winner.
Last Place Takes All is a wonderful activity for any math center and is also a great whole class or partner game.
Simple rules allow you to have your students playing within minutes!
