How are the Units Covered?
Each unit will offer two components to help make the math units
meaningful and engaging for whole group, small group or individual lessons. The Kindergarten Math Units can be a supplemental resource for current math curriculum, or it can be used as a whole math curriculum. The curriculum is designed to give the teacher flexibility and freedom to rearrange the units to fit the needs of his/her students. Since there are so many practice pages and centers in each unit, the teacher can use many of the pages as a spiral review as the year progresses.

*Center Number 1: Compare and Clip- First, count each group of objects. Then decide if the first group is greater than, less than or equal to the second group. Use a clothespin to show the answer.
*Center Number 2: Count and Compare Acorns- Draw two cards, count the number of acorns and compare the numbers. (Recording Sheet included)
*Center Number 3: Count and Compare Apples- Draw two cards, count the number of apples and compare the numbers. (Recording Sheet included)
*Center Number 4: Count and Compare Pumpkin Seeds- Draw two cards, count the number of pumpkin seeds and compare the numbers. (Recording Sheet included)
*Center Number 5: Count and Compare Balloons- raw two cards, count the number of Balloons and compare the numbers. (Recording Sheet included)
*Center Number 6: Count the chocolate chips on each cookie and compare. (Recording Sheet included)
*Center Number 7: Count the sprinkles on each donut and compare. (Recording Sheet included)
*Center Number 8: Count the candies in each jar and compare. (Recording Sheet included)
Center Number 9: Counting the Pepperoni- Count the pepperoni on each pizza and compare. (Recording Sheet included)
*Center Number 10: Roll and Compare- Two players take turns rolling a die. The player who rolls picks a number in the row that matches the die and decides if the first number is greater than, less than or equal to the second. The player who gets the most correct wins! Laminate the page, use 2 different dry erase makers for a quick game that can be played again and again! This center included two different game boards.
*Center Number 11: Spin, Build and Compare- Spin both spinners. Build the numbers on the recording sheet and circle the number that is greater. There are a total of 5 different spinner cards in this center.
*Center Number 12: Dominos Compare and Clip- Count the dots on each side of a domino. Use a clothespin to show greater than, less than or equal to.
*Center Number 13: Flip, Count and Compare- Two players each flip a card and place it on the square. The person who has the greater number wins that round and gets to color a cube on a rod. The player who fills the rods first wins the game.
*Center Number 14: True or False? Read the sentence and decide if it is true or false.
*Center Number 15: Compare and Sort- Flip a card and decide if the first number is greater than, less than or equal to the second number.
*Center Number 16: Compare and Match- Draw a card, compare the towers and match the card with the correct sentence.
*Center Number 17: Feed the Dog-Two players get half of the cards. Each player turns one card. The player with the greater number feeds the bone to the dog. The person who feeds all of their bones to the dog wins! If the bones have the same number, both players feed the dog!
*Center Number 18: Feed the Unicorn- Two players get half of the cards. Each player turns one card. The player with the greater number feeds the rainbow to the unicorn. The person who feeds all of their rainbows to the unicorn wins! If the rainbows have the same number, both players feed the unicorn!
*Center Number 19: Feed the Frog- Two players get half of the cards. Each player turns one card. The player with the greater number feeds the fly to the frog. The person who feeds all of their flies to the frog wins! If the flies have the same number, both players feed the frog!
*Center Number 20: Feed the Bunny-Two players get half of the cards. Each player turns one card. The player with the greater number feeds the carrot to the bunny. The person who feeds all of their carrots to the bunny wins! If the carrots have the same number, both players feed the bunny!
*Center Number 21: Chomp...Chomp...Math-Two players each turn a card. The player with the card that has the greater number keeps both cards. The player with the most cards wins!
*Center Number 22: Count and Clip-Count the objects in the box. If the number matches the rule at the top of the strip, clip a clothes pin on the box. Each strip has 3 matching boxes.
How to Teach the Units
The grade level standards for each practice page and center are clearly indicated on the Kindergarten Math Standard Sheet. There is no guessing as to what standard is being covered.
