End of first trimester
This math assessment serves four purposes:
1. It provides evidence of your students’ progress toward meeting the standards of the Common Core.
2. It gives you data you need to fill out report cards at the end of the first trimester.
3. It gives you information for regrouping your math groups.
4. As a bonus, the cutting, coloring, and writing tasks will also provide evidence of fine motor development through the year.
It’s attractive, fun, and easy to administer. It includes a script, so it can be done by you, an aide, or a parent helper, and no reading is required by the students. I usually do it over a couple of days with groups of 6 students sitting at a round table while other students are reading or doing free play.
The thumbnail of the title page shows the skills addressed. The Common Core Standards are listed next to the skills; some important kindergarten skills, such as reading patterns, are also included.
If you like this product and it fits your teaching style, please also look at my math assessments for Day 120 (end of 2nd trimester) and Day 180 (end of the year). Doing all four during the year will provide you with a portfolio of evidence for each student’s progress in math awareness.
