Numbers 11-19 Kindergarten Common Core Printables by Claire Guidry
This packet is designed to meet the requirements for the Common Core Standards
Numbers and Operations in Base Ten (K.NBT)
Work with numbers 11-19 to gain foundations for place value.
Before I start teaching this level I make sure ALL my kindergartners can FLUENTLY
count 1-20 and can count out 20 objects without any skipping. Plus I make sure they
recognize the numbers 1-20. I also first teach simple addition concepts and counting
by 10’s to 100.
Before I hand out any of the worksheets, I demonstrate what sets of ten look like
using linking cubes. I demonstrate for a couple weeks, (using mini-lessons) examples of
what the numbers 11-19 look like broken into tens and ones, using the linking cubes
and drawings on the board. I make sure I use drawings similar to the set up of the
worksheets so the students will be familiar to the setups on these worksheets. Once
I sense the students are catching onto the concept then I start passing out the
I also cover the numbers 20-29 in this method. Over the years I have noticed it was not
until I started covering the 20’s in this fashion that for the most part ALL of the students
were able to fully grasp the concept of tens and ones. 20’s are included in this packet.
