This unit is set up to teach and review addition and subtraction in equations and in story problems. It is set up to use either the paper cut outs of marshmallows and graham crackers provided or to give the students marshmallows and Golden Grams cereal (mini-graham crackers) as manipulatives. There are 6 days worth of activities and games provided. Each game or activity includes a set within 10 and an enrichment set of problems. The enrichment pages are marked enrichment.

After students have worked on their addition and subtraction through playing all these games then they will get to invent their own addition or subtraction game. They can use the check-list provided. They can create a game like one we have played or they can invent their own. After they have completed their games (a couple days) then I have a big game day where we act like we are on a camp out and make smore and play each other’s games. When we play games I have partners get together and play each other’s games so they can teach each other the rules since we didn’t write them out. It is so much fun! I have provide some blank card sheets and blank game boards in case if your students want to use them.
