Three seasonal math activities for math center fun. The first activity utilizes mini pumpkins students may bring or have donated by the PTA or a Business Partner. I have always found local farmers markets sell at great discounts for the schools. Students measure, count, weigh and then decorate their pumpkins. They are very excited to learn they can keep them as well!
Another activity involves sequencing the life cycle of a pumpkin and follows the story Pumpkin, Pumpkin by Jeanne Titherington. Students cut out the pictures, glue them in order on a pumpkin shape and decorate the back as a jack-o-lantern. The third center is for gourd weighing with tiles for comparisons.
